Where did the inspiration for this story come from?

I think there's a lot of elements.

It's all coming together in this story.

So I am from Beijing and the English is my second language.

I think every time when I'm writing and then in English, I definitely feel like I could be a lot more concise, fluent when I'm doing it in Chinese.

So the other day I was just joking with my friend.

I'm like, oh, what if I can just buy it off someone and then inherited it? The story sort of grew from there.

And do you have any books you could recommend? Anything you've read recently or something you really enjoy and return to often?

I mean, even the ending shot of Flora's reflection in the doorway glass with Han placed within her head was metaphorically powerful and yet beautiful.
