Is there like a reason why you wanted to, you know, draw and animate that way? Is there a message or is this just something you were drawn to?
10:58
Originally, it was very intuitive.
10:59
You know, like, you see something, it makes you feel it some type of way, and then you kind of follow it without having, like, a theoretical framework around it.
11:06
And for me, when I started animation, it was very...
11:09
Like, it was happenstance.
11:11
I just got asked by friends to make a music video.
11:13
I had never animated before.

Like, how do you manage to stay on track time-wise? Like, have you got a schedule that you try and follow or is it kind of like just constantly working and hoping for the best sort of strategy?

There's this director Satoshi Kon, a Japanese animation director.
11:39
There was something in his work where I felt like he's doing something with the medium where he edits in a way that is really particular to animation and creates this kind of weird disorientation in the world.
11:50
And I also really connected with Masaaki Yuasa's work.
11:53
who does a lot of work with stretching bodies, but I think in his work, and this now comes only through reflecting later, it's like, it didn't feel like it's just some kind of cool aesthetic gimmick.
12:07
It felt like he's expressing something really particular with it.
