Mm-hmm.
6:25
And I think that changed a lot of how I feel about Brazilian music.
6:29
It, it made me more proud.
6:30
I think it also surprised me how, you know, musicians in New York, uh, are aware of the Tropicalia movement and, and the Brazilian music.
6:40
So it was a very, I guess in a way, cathartic experience 'cause even though, uh, I call Brooklyn my home, uh, there's always a piece of me that will be Brazilian, you know?
7:23
[laughs]
7:23
And, uh, and, uh, ironically, of course, uh, I try to be cheeky and funny with some of my lyrics and, but it also made me think about, you know, the metaphors behind that, that kind of dream, you know? And I'm a person that spends way too much time inside my head, [smacks lips] and, uh, and that means nothing unless you convert it into reality in some shape or form.
7:44
So I guess this EP is trying to make that, uh, commitment to bringing something to life, you know?
9:09
So tell me about what that kind of affords you when you kind of diversify and have those different talents and can apply them in different ways, you know?
9:17
Well, I think as someone with an ADHD brain, it is very important to have multiple outlets.
9:25
And I think I've been very lucky to get all those opportunities over the years.
9:29
And in a way, they all... complement each other, you know, because they, I guess, they help me pin a broader picture whenever I'm picking a medium, you know.
9:45
So, for example, sometimes I make some unpretentious projects that end up working out like the silly video game that I put out the other day and worked out for some reason.
9:57
And when I need money, I resort to, you know, maybe writing for advertising, which is something that I've done for a long time.
10:08
And, you know, when I need emotional connection, that's when I resort to music, I guess.

10 MINS LATER

20:15
So moving all this distance and pursuing this life, was your family ever concerned? No.
18:18
So what, what has that progression been like?
18:21
Yeah.
18:21
I think when I got a little older and I, I started getting more into Brazilian music, and I think th- this is a very ironic fact about me.
18:31
I, uh- Again, be- maybe because of MTV or whatever, I grew up listening to a lot of alternative rock, uh, and indie music.
18:39
You know, like, uh, a- as a teenager I wanted to have a band that sounded like The Strokes and not, and not like Arthur Verocai, you know? A- a- and, um, and only when I got older and I went to college that I actually got into Brazilian music, and I always joke about it.
18:56
Like, you know, when you go to college is when you become a little bit more of a leftist and you, you, you get more proud of your country's music.
19:03
It, it, it's funny.
21:41
In fact, the first track.
