Yeah, I feel like the spectrum has shifted in parenting, where when I grew up with parents We were kind of left to our own to sort of figure out and navigate life situations, and now I feel like sometimes parents are very helicopter parents, where they wanna try to control and solve and jump in, which is, again, fantastic.

Prerna RaoGUEST
At the same time, what's happening is is we're creating a dependency where now kids are not able to figure out, "How do I make this decision and how do I trust myself?" That's one thing, is sometimes too involved of a parent is what I see a lot of the times.

The second, and this is literally across the board of any interpersonal relationships, is, how do I validate my kid? And I think a lot of the times parents think validation is agreeing with a behavior or a feeling, and it's not.

Prerna RaoGUEST
Validation is, I can recognize that you're having an experience and still disagree with you.

So what I could say is is, "I can see that you're really angry and you're upset, and it seems like our conversation is really triggering you, and at the same time, how do we talk about this in a more calm manner so that we're not yelling at each other?" That's validation, right? It's holding space for your kid, because I think a lot of the times parents wanna come in with solutions.

But when we're looking at self-esteem and technology and just in a silo for each individual, let's say teenager, or young adult, or adult for that matter, how have you seen technology impact, especially the kids and, and teens, how, how have you s- how have you seen technology impact their own values and self-esteem?
