And I thought, this is so odd from someone who is quite out of character.
22:48
So out of character.
22:49
You're so positive.
22:50
Why are you suddenly now kind of making me feel anxious? And this pregnancy is fine.
22:55
It's really great.
22:56
And three months scan, all good.
22:57
And I call her up and say, I don't know what you're talking about.

at that point in a

For the audience that isn't familiar with the book and your work, would you be able to do a little bit of an introduction about who you are and the work that you do and what led you to write this specific book?
2:49
Yes.
2:50
So for the last, I would say, gosh, 14 years, I've been deep in the world of mental health.
2:56
And so I built one of the first gamified mental health cognitive behavioral therapy platforms back in 2016.
3:05
We grew that very focused on bringing psychoeducation to young people.
3:10
We teamed up with a huge education platform who later acquired the company and then wrote a book on mental health.
3:16
And it was just, it was very, you know, early on in those days when we were suddenly as a culture connecting the mind with the body, not seeing them as separate.

was.
3:53
And what about your connection with tarot reading? How has that helped you? Because I know you do tarot reading, and you also go to tarot readers.
4:01
Yes.
4:02
I think tarot is an amazing tool to explore the subconscious.
4:06
So there's this thing in science called information theory, and it says that we are being, being bombarded with 10,000 pieces of information a second, and yet we can only process 50.
4:17
So that means you've got all this information that your brain, without you even knowing, is filtering out.
4:22
So you can imagine all the information that you're not seeing because you're focused on one particular direction because your brain is very efficient.
4:29
It only wants to tell you things that it thinks you will think is important.
5:37
People don't, people don't believe a lot of it, do they? They find it all a bit woo-woo.
10:47
Poppy, you open, uh, the book by saying, "There's a part of us that believes in magic because sometimes it tumbles into our lives unannounced." When has that happened for you?
10:59
The idea of magic is one that everybody can have an example of, and that's why I love it so much.
11:06
Whenever I've gone and given talks recently, I will hear five stories that will just completely astound me, that I can't believe that it, that has even happened.
11:16
But I think, you know, magic has played such a strong role in my life, from the micro to the macro, micro being, which I guess can be macro.
11:25
You know, my biggest jobs have come from meeting strangers on trains.
11:29
And in the, uh, first chapter, I talk about synchronicities, which was a term coined by Carl Jung, this idea that events are linked by meaning, not by cause.
11:38
And so, you know, you bump into a friend after 20 years of never seeing them, and yet they have this story for you that you just needed to hear that day, a synchronicity.
