Mm-hmm.

There are many ways to dive into the pool of philosophy.

And why did I go to phenomenology? Uh, in part it's because of my exposure early on, but it's also in part to my teaching experience over many years.

And I realized that oftentimes, and mea culpa, I've done what I'm about to point out, as professors we haven't spent a lot of time teaching technical, historical, or cultural aspects.

And what I really wanted to do was understand the meaning of experience, whether it's music or dance, from the perspective of those people that are doing it.

Hmm.

Um, now somebody doing an exercise in another way might expect an answer about, oh, technique, I'm doing counts, uh, I'm thinking about artistic intention.

Um, but I'm hoping that I'll get an answer along the lines of, "You know, Phil, when I'm learning a role, I'm thinking about everything.
