And let me bring us front and center here
67:06
... w- we were, we were fans, I guess like you guys were, and, and really felt the, the first film was super effective.
67:14
And, uh, uh, so, uh, Capstone asked us whether we'd be interested in pitching on the sequel.
67:22
And, um, so Michael and I pitched a number of ideas, and the one that we all landed on was the plank walk, which was, uh, based on a real plank walk in China, and we all kind of flipped out for that.
67:35
And there's a lot of YouTube videos of that plank walk.
67:37
It's terrifying, and we kind of wanted to try and recreate that, and we felt that was a, a great new setting for, for a Fall movie, and that we weren't just doing another version of the tower or something like that, that it was a, a different movie.
67:53
And it was exciting 'cause we liked the first film so much that we were working with the same writers again, too.
69:50
[laughs]
2:33
Do you both agree with that? And kind of does that resonate with you all when you took on this film in particular? Yeah.
2:41
Yeah.
2:42
Yeah, I would say that it is tricky because you do want to, you know, give the audience what they loved about the first movie, but then you can't just do that.
2:55
You've got to do something different, and if you do it too differently, are they then... disappointed that it's not like the first film and, you know, you still need George McFly, but you can't get the actor, you know, that kind of thing.
3:12
It's one of those things.
3:14
And to some degree, I feel like the DNA of the first film is definitely in the second film.
3:21
And Michael and I were very aware that we were in somebody else's sandpit in a way.
4:47
What was the conversations like before some of those scenes of like, how can we create the most suspense with the camera?
1:06
So how was this process of bringing something else's vision to the big screen?
1:11
Well, I mean, yes, most of our movies we've been writer-directors on.
1:19
The way we did Fall 2 was we actually pitched Jonathan and Scott an idea for Fall 2, which was to do with the plank walk.
1:28
So the concept initially was Michael and I going in there and – talking about this real plank walk that exists in China.
1:38
And we felt like that was a great idea for the sequel to fall and everybody loved that.
1:44
And so the guys went away, Scott and Jonathan went away and wrote a draft.
1:50
And so we collaborate quite heavily with them.
3:54
So how was it working with creating this new universe?
