So where did you go when you finished your theological training in Glasgow?

Well, earlier, before I'd gone to Bulawayo, I had met a Korean student coming to study uh theology at uh what was then clifton theological college and now trinity college in bristol and we became very good friends and he wrote to my his friends back in korea and told them to pray that uh god would call me to korea uh and um About a year after that, again in the, where Pepler's home in Limington, one Sunday night, before going to bed, quite clearly and emphatically, the Lord said, now, I want you to make the commitment, not just dally around, but make a commitment to going to Korea.

That was back in 1961, so it was five years before we got there.

But having finished a year at Bible training in Glasgow, we did a summer course with Wycliffe Bible Translators on language learning and linguistics.

It was in an old army camp at Merstham, south of London.

And during that time, the second... what was then called the ICCP, International Congress of Christian Physicians, which was the precursor of the ICMDA, the International Christian Medical and Dental Association, to which CMF is a founding member.

They had their second conference at Oxford, and Douglas Johnson was a major organizer of that conference.

But it's that investment early on that makes the difference later on as well.
