Where do we stand at this time?

Well, Illinois has made some progress, as you mentioned.

Uh, s- if you compare it to the baseline of, like, 2005, uh, Illinois has reduced carbon emissions by about a third, largely because, uh, power plants have been transitioning away from coal toward natural gas and solar and wind power, other kinds of renewable energy.

Also been growth in, uh, the electric vehicle market, and for gasoline vehicles, there's been increased fuel efficiency.

So those have all, uh, worked, not only in Illinois, but elsewhere, to reduce the overall carbon footprint.

But as you said, if we stay on that path according to this report that just came out, uh, we will not get to the net zero, uh, goal, uh, certainly not anytime soon.

And so this report sort of laid out, uh, different pathways where you can, Illinois could reduce its carbon footprint even further, and there were a couple of options there for actually reaching the net zero mark by 2050, although those would require some pretty extreme measures.

So I don't know if the state, I mean, they can certainly discuss things and try to be as prepared as possible, but it seems like it's gonna have to happen at a higher level.

So, Peter, we should mention the court did not sign off on Trump's plan completely, but where do things stand right now, again, as we get really close to the election season?

Right.

It was a short-term, temporary win, procedural win for the Trump administration, but it's clearly not over yet.

This could be one of those sleeper issues that a lot of voters don't realize is out there until it hits them when they go to cast a vote, if they're trying to vote by mail.

Essentially, President Trump, like you just said – wants to have these state citizen lists for each state.

It will identify the residents there who are confirmed U.S. citizens over the age of 18 at the time of the election.

And it authorizes the Postal Service to develop all kinds of regulations to control who can and cannot cast mail-in ballots, basically saying if you're not on that list, then the Postal Service will not pick up or deliver a mail ballot for you.

Explain what that was all about.

They are just reminding state election officials in all 50 states that there are laws against non-citizens registering to vote and non-citizens casting ballots.

And it's also a crime to aid or abet somebody in doing that.

They're basically threatening them with prosecution.

You know, if there are non-citizens sitting on the voting rolls and they don't go to any effort to take them off or if non-citizens cast ballots.

I thought one interesting point about that was that they included the state of North Dakota in the list of election officials who received this letter.

North Dakota does not have voter registration.

You took a closer look at that of how things have improved or have they for some of these schools.
