So what kind of skills and expertise have you already developed and are looking to take forward in your career?

Peter DillonGUEST
I think first and foremost just having that experience in such a big business in this industry has been really beneficial both working in the office or networking those have all been really like well pushed in my role in terms of the sort of supply chain specifics I've had a really sort of broad and holistic view of that so whether it's been engaging suppliers at things like conferences or helping identify suppliers for different tenders things like that these are all things that I hadn't obviously had much experience of before, but now I think I have a really broad skill set and supply chain was never something I thought I'd be doing in the future.

Peter DillonGUEST
But now that I have got that sort of experience, understanding of how it works practically rather than theoretically at university, it's definitely something that I'd look to build upon.

Peter DillonGUEST
And then from the new business side of my role, that's kind of given me a chance to be a lot more analytical and think critically about different opportunities and the things I've been involved in have really given me a wider understanding of the industry, but also the different skills and how these departments and jobs actually operate day to day rather than just learning about them at university, I'd say.
10 MINS LATER

Emily ReesHOST
I was going to ask you, Peter, I was going to ask, what can we do? If you're at university, what are the channels that you and your fellow students are sort of looking out for and hearing about with regard to industries? And what would you say is the thing that we could do as a sector specifically from your own experience?

Peter DillonGUEST
I think these sort of year in industry and like placement years have become a lot more common across like university.

Peter DillonGUEST
So a lot of my friends at university have done one or are currently doing one.

Peter DillonGUEST
And I think no matter what degree is, whether previously it might be like specific degrees that have like these placement years, I think almost every degree now has that option.
