Calcarea carbonica is the full name of this remedy.

The source of the remedy is the inside white scrapings of an oyster shell.

So although it sounds like a mineral, it is, but it's an animal-derived mineral.

It's the shell of an oyster, a mollusk.

And so you could call this an animal remedy, even though it sounds like a mineral remedy.

And the abbreviated name is calcar, as in calcium carbonate.

Like you say, holding on to the stool and constipation, it's like I'm going to hold on to this because I might need it.
