What first made you fall in love with sport as a whole?

Oh, I think as a child it was just, you know, recreation and something fun to do.

I was from that era and in those small towns up in the middle of nowhere that girls didn't get much chance, especially as you got older.

But when I was young, I loved the participation.

I liked gridiron, American football, and I was a really good quarterback, and so I used to like to play with the boys because I could throw farther.

They soon caught up, but at least until I was 12 or so, I was always first picked.

If sport really is a mirror of society and being a sports-mad country that we are, what does the way we've treated women's sport in this nation tell us about Australian society?

and um and as i was saying that when richmond asked me if i was interested in going on the board i thought they're probably going to ask again And if you're no good at it, they're going to let you know.

And that's that.

But the club and the place it has in the community you care about, you think you have some skills to bring to it because of governance and law and all of those things that I was interested in.

had become worse in the business of the whole league because how come some clubs have money and other clubs don't? And that was back before there was the soft cap and all of those things.

There weren't as many rules then as there are now, but Richmond was in pretty bad shape and a lot of debt, hadn't won anything in a long time.

And so I thought, well, so why not? Was it courageous? I guess you have to have a bit of self-confidence that you you have something that is worthwhile bringing to the situation, to the circumstance.

Are you comfortable sharing something there with us that has been a hardship for you?
