Did the nuns actually encourage that or were you sneaking it past them?

Well, I started at Rose Bay Conference, which where I was very happy and had some beautiful old beautiful friends and I'm still actually great friends with them.

They're my kindergarten girlfriends, I call them.

And then my parents didn't want me to be brought up in the pub life because they owned the Warlick Hotel at Double Bay and the Warlick was just starting to be something.

And, of course, there were people drinking outside the footpath and all of that.

And they didn't walk me open to any of that.

So they sent me away to boarding school, which I got out one Sunday a month.

Did winning ever feel real or were you always convinced somebody had read the wrong name?
