I went into this relationship knowing that

he had a younger daughter and I've been in my stepdaughter's life for a really long time.

She was very little.

So for me and for my husband, it was very important that we talked it out as much as we could.

So what will my role be? Who does she think that I am going to be? What will my role be with regards to my husband, with regards to her mom? And I think something that it was very clear to both of us from the beginning is that I was not there to take anyone's place.

My relationship with her was going to be unique and different.

And for me, it was very important that it continued to evolve organically.
