So things are kind of set against you there.

uh certainly um if you're at that time when you were at school it was actively discouraged playing the drums was actually actively discouraged by the music department there as well so yes the the truth is drummers were in short supply when i took it up um age 15 at my high school, which was Bearsden Academy, I immediately was drafted into a whole cacophony of punk bands.

So I happened to be the drummer in about six or seven bands that all got set up.

Everyone was in a band, basically, around 1980, 1981.

So I became quite cocky and in demand and I ran into Donald sort of by accident.

I used to, for pocket money, I used to deliver newspapers to people's houses and Donald's parents' house was on my run.

They were foolish enough to let us make a noise in their lovely little cafe.
