How did you get involved with Bill in the first place?
14:02
Well, we were having coffee one day at Dunkin' Donuts in Weymouth, and Bill said, I said to him, what are you doing today? He says, I actually have to take a ride up to Beverly, and I have to interview this guy and take a picture of this guy.
14:15
I'm doing a book on veterans.
14:17
He said, you want to take a ride? I said, sure, I'll take a ride.
14:21
And off we went.
14:22
And I think it was an assisted living place.
14:24
And the fellow's name, where Bill was going to photograph his name, was Larry Kirby.

35 MINS LATER

49:35
Yeah, it's a nice story.
8:06
Specifically, what we're doing is a little intro into a couple of our speakers and then just kind of scratching the surface on the topics that our presenters will be talking about at the summit this year in hopes that you all will come and see in person, meet the speakers, and hear from some of these amazing speakers speakers based on their experiences you won't want to miss this year at at the gardens here in grand rapids it's going to be a beautiful venue with a just a great event overall so paul let's go back to your uh topic your topic is the work of the leader um tell us just a little without giving away too much tell us just a little bit about the kind of the description of your presentation what what can people expect when they sit in on your presentation around the work of the leader
8:57
Well, I can tell it best by telling kind of the story of where it came from.
9:00
When I was asked to serve as CEO at GHSP, we were about 93 million in sales.
9:06
And about seven years later, we were 430 million in sales.
9:10
And one of the observations that happened with the leadership team very early on is we recognized that through some real cool product innovation that we were the dog that caught the bus and we were gonna scale fast.
9:24
And what we realized was that if we weren't able to develop leaders at all levels of the organization, our ability to scale would not return the kind of returns we hoped they would.
9:34
And so we made a really interesting decision one night in a planning session that we were going to need to develop leaders, but we weren't going to think about it as simply a training program that we needed to kind of give people skills.

13 MINS LATER

22:44
So I'll echo that as well, Paul.
