Why is it called Fall Media Day today?

Well, we're putting a little twist on it this year.

We've obviously got our normal setup with our nine football programs.

They're going to have 20-minute increments starting at 9 o'clock.

But we're also, since we're in this innovation center, we got a little bit more room.

We got a room upstairs where we're bringing in volleyball from 9.30 to 10.15 and then girls soccer from 10.45 to 11.30. We're going to do some interviews up there with them.

Two different sports that have a lot of success.

From a district level, what's one of the things you're kind of looking at and talking to your guys about like, hey, we've got to be pretty intentional about this 2026 going forward because obviously this is a place that a lot of people want to be.

And honestly, I think we would win a lot of games against private schools as well.

But last year, state championship summit beats Brentwood.

Met five times.

And during the season, Summit wins three, Brentwood wins two.

But if you go through the record books, there hasn't been more than one year in the past 30 years where a Williamson County team hasn't won.

From a district level, what's one of the things you're kind of looking at and talking to your guys about, like, hey, we've got to be pretty intentional about this 2026 going forward? Because obviously this is a place that a lot of people want to be.

How many professional development hours does a teacher slash coach have to have per year?

I think it varies by district.

At Williamson County, we ask for our teachers to have 12 hours outside of their normal work professional developments and things like that.

So that really equates to two days.

And our PD staff that Williamson County does a good job of some offerings.

And, uh, the coaching one is, is one, it's not just, you know, we're not just coming in and talking about sports really.

The focus this year is, is trying to help, uh, give our coaches some skills that can, you know, just transfer on the playing fields, but also in the classroom.

What do all those guys have in common, Coach Whitlock?

Well, they're all state champions, and some of them – two-time state champions.

I mean, it's a competitive, it's obviously a competitive field, and I think that's what makes this so unique.

But I don't know there's a whole lot of counties that could put together or districts that could put together something like this and have their four finalists all be state champions, which in turn means we had to leave some pretty good wrestlers off of that list.

It's funny, we have the media vote on this, media members that are uh, well-versed in Williamson County athletics.

And when I tabulate the votes and look at it, I'm like, Oh, huh.

You know, this person is not even going to be a finalist, which is kind of crazy.
