So first of all, Patrick, before we get to it, what's your background? What brought you to write this book?

Well, my background is I'm a retired attorney and this is my fourth book.

I wrote one fiction book and three nonfiction books.

And what prompted me to write this one really was the impact that Charlie's death had on me, which really surprised me because I've never met him in person, but I've been following him ever since I learned of his admiration for what he calls America's greatest governor and the future of conservatism.

And that's, uh, governor Ron DeSantis, uh, who I've been, uh, following and supporting, uh, all the way back, uh, since, um, his COVID days.

And when he threw his hat in a ring in 2023, so that's, that, That's what sparked the deep dive when Charlie died.

I looked at both men, got all their books, devoured their books, scoured their Twitter posts and videos and so forth.

What's the motivation and what's the insight into the J.D. Vance thing?
