you didn't include the,

people naked in the stands, which happened a lot, right? It wasn't just people on the floors.

You have to show that for me, it was be fair and show enough of it for people to understand that it existed, but don't dwell on it.

Right.

And I will say that we believe if someone that wasn't born and raised here that didn't grow up amongst the wing bowl told this story, it would have been probably 75 to 80% that.

Yeah.

And then, oh, by the way, there were a couple of funny things that happened because watch TV right now.

Yep.

How do you approach that as a storyteller?

The thing that I think a lot of people that don't do this work... wouldn't understand is that probably the first 80% of editing is not fun.

So essentially my process is this after every interview, I cut down each individual interview and we did 40 for this movie.

After each individual interview, you cut it down to anything that's usable.

So Tim, if I interviewed you and we spoke for an hour, I would cut that down to maybe 20 minutes, right? Cutting out my voice, cutting out, not that you would ramble, of course, but cutting out ramblings, cutting out, in our case, things that were too parochial.

So when people got too into the weeds of Philly, we kind of got rid of that stuff because we wanted this to be a film that could be enjoyed by people that live here or don't live here.

It's kind of got to be in all the stores, be on all

Who was that on this one?

So I'd love to give you two answers.

The only yes you needed to do this movie, the only absolute yes was Angelo Cataldi.

He was the main host of WIP Radio.

He was the guy that was the ringleader of this event for all 26 years.

You cannot tell the story of Wing Bowl without Angelo Cataldi.

Once we got a yes from him and I told him, if you sit for a very long interview, there will be a movie at the end.

Was it hard tracking down those folks? How many people had some sort of, either male or female, either a regret or like a, eh, not my finest hour? Or did they all just bask in the glow of like, I was part of this thing?

You showed it, like how crazy these Philadelphia fans get because they had nothing to cheer for for a long, long time.

Yeah, I mean, we're spoiled, right? Recency bias says the Eagles have always been contenders.

You have to remember, Wing Bowl starts in the early 90s.

The Eagles are, they're perennial letdowns, right? And so the hosts are on the air, and they're like, man, we're never going to be in the Super Bowl.

Let's do something of our own.

Randomly say, let's have a chicken wing eating contest.

So they have a Friday remote show.

It's outstanding.

and it did all the strip club business that i mean those those strip clubs made more money that day than they did the whole year

Oh, they said it was their Christmas.

Yeah.

The ones we interviewed.

Yeah.

So we just thought, look, you hope that there's a story with one or two great characters.

This has a hundred, right? It's like a menagerie of cartoon characters.

How did you weave this into a tale?

Of all those characters throughout the years, who would be your top five favorite of all time that came to the Wing Bowl?

Yeah, my favorite is a guy named Arsene Arnie.

So when I went to Angelo, Angelo Cataldi was the only one that I said, if we can't get his yes, we don't make this movie.

Angelo Cataldi said, we're going to do it, and I want you to interview one person aside from me.

His name's Arson Arnie.

So if anybody grew up listening to WIP, Arson Arnie is a cab driver from New Jersey.

He's a lunatic.
