What was the sound you and The Essentials were going for to set yourselves apart from what I remember to be just a lot of regular standard rock

Pat MacDONALDGUEST
I was really into blues, you know, blues based music and starting to get into kind of like maybe slightly darker sound, but I didn't like the whole sloshy bar band sound of a lot of the bands that were playing live.

Pat MacDONALDGUEST
And I really liked the kind of crisp sound of the new wave that was coming or, you know, coming out around that time.

Pat MacDONALDGUEST
And, and yeah, Although I never wore a skinny tie, I kind of thought that those skinny ties and those suits they wore kind of had that sharp vibe, sharper, less sloshy vibe to the music.
