What-- I know that you're sort of AI forward, but how do you f- what do you feel about giving it up to Claude?
13:36
Uh, listen, I'm a, I'm a big fan of AI.
13:39
I truly believe that AI is an enabler, but AI is also an equalizer, which means everyone has the s- similar level of access, and so you still need to continue to find where your edge is.
13:52
I use AI constantly.
13:55
I have, uh, multiple agents throughout the business.
13:57
Our software team uses agents for development.
14:00
Everywhere in the company, we're as AI forward as can be.

14 MINS LATER

28:10
[laughs] Yeah.
8:52
What kind of cash flow mistakes should we be watching out for?
8:58
um boy uh you ask about mistakes i would say the first problem is most people aren't even tracking their cash flow correctly so uh you know if you're not looking at your money in money out um that will create a massive uh a problem for you it could um so one of the key things and we talk about this all the time at web agility is that you can't wait until a settlement happens from say a marketplace in order to actually figure out what your cast position is uh you should be tracking your cash flow on a daily basis and so how do you do that right you have to have real-time connectivity to your sales channels so you understand what the revenues are that are coming in you want to create clearing accounts for each of your sales channels so you know how much money is sitting in reserve in every one of those channels On the other hand, when you look at sort of your fulfillment and what your fees you're incurring as the settlements come in, you want to settle out those clearing accounts as well.
10:00
At the same time, in your accounting system, you want to be keeping track of your purchase orders so you know how much money you've also allocated there.
10:08
And then we know what the biggest costs are typically in an e-commerce business is either your advertising costs or your inventory and your employees.
10:19
All of those things really come together in your accounting system.
10:24
And so if you're tracking it in an Excel, you're probably not doing it right.
10:28
But if you're tracking it in your system of truth and the data is flowing, especially now, like there's absolutely no reason in my mind in 2026 why you should have to wait two weeks to know how much money you're going to make.

10 MINS LATER

20:32
okay?
2:23
Yeah.
2:24
Yes, accounting is certainly having a moment.
2:29
For those of you that don't know about me in the audience, I'll just spare a lot of the details.
2:35
You can look me up on LinkedIn, but my background has been software and small businesses for now over 25 years.
2:43
My first stint was building e-commerce stores and websites for small businesses.
2:47
I did that for about 10 years.
2:49
Then I worked at Amazon on their web store product, learned a ton there.

yep

1:06
Why do so many have still decisions that are based on wrong numbers?
1:11
Well, I would have to correct you first and foremost, because most businesses don't actually do a good job of closing their books every month.
1:17
So of the ones [chuckles] that do close every month, um, you know, lots of times what we find is business owners fall behind on closing their accounts, and typically they can even go all the way through a quarter before they go back and do the reconciliation for the full, uh, period.
1:32
Um, the simple answer to your question is that, uh, you know, closing books is about matching fundamentally what your bank account says with the transaction history that you see throughout all your systems.
1:45
So if you can kind of match at the end of the statement and say, "Okay, my books reconcile and the numbers are matched up," most business owners consider that book's done, right? Like this is simple.
1:57
If the numbers are equal, you're good.
2:00
Um, but part of the reason why the reconciliation's not done correctly is because behind all of the final numbers, right, behind the bank statement at the end, is actually all of the minutiae and the details of what happened.

16:35
Could you share some kind of success stories or case studies of businesses that you have worked with?
5:47
What would be some of the main differences between you and some of the other main competitors, especially I'm thinking in the Amazon bookkeeping space without naming names, but what would be some of the main differences between what WebGility does and some of the main players when it comes to account reconciliation and accounting?
6:04
Yeah, absolutely.
6:04
You know, there's definitely, this is not a new category.
6:07
There's been tons of solutions.
6:09
We've been around for 19 years now and we've been delivering solutions.
6:13
In fact, I'm formerly from Amazon.
6:15
So I've seen the problem firsthand as businesses scale, you know, data tends to become very complicated.

What are some of the other platforms that you're seeing some of your clients growing in and going aggressive in?
