Ott DeFoeGUEST
You know, when I heard about it at first, I thought it sounds pretty lofty, you know, but I don't know.

Ott DeFoeGUEST
I had more confidence in it than I hate to talk about stuff like that because I'm a positive person.

How do you – How do you square it up? If you could just lay a tournament trail out, what would you do?

jerald dropped out i think he uh he ruined it for all of us real quick how many times have you been on old hickory lake in your life i know you're in east in my life yeah how many times

Ott DeFoeGUEST
Yeah, I fished an FLWS series there in 2006, shortly before I was goofing off at my last real job, the last real job I had working at the trucking place, and I broke this wrist.

Ott DeFoeGUEST
I actually fished one before at Cumberland, but I fished a June tournament on Old Hickory that was really hot with a cast on, and I got a check.

And, and that was what I, what I kind of got to see, you know, and really put it into play.

Ott DeFoeGUEST
I didn't, I didn't spend a ton of time on Erie, honestly, smallmouth fishing I pr- in practice.

Ott DeFoeGUEST
I spent more of my time, um, you know, looking for places for largemouth just 'cause, I mean, I, I like that more, [laughs] honestly.

And I had thought going in.

Ott DefoeGUEST
that that heat wave may push some fish into those places um you know but i think i truly think it's exactly what happens where i live you know so those fish you know when they when they spawn they get done spawning douglas lake out here they swim to deep water right i mean that's that's where they go to recover what's there's obviously there's two there's always twofold what a fish in my opinion is trying to do postponed one they're trying to feed back up and two they're trying to physically recover um if they're in hot water it's harder for them to recover um you know once they they can get back to a cooler water environment that's where they recover best.

Ott DefoeGUEST
And a lot of times that food is kind of seeking the refuge of some cooler water at that point in time.

Ott DefoeGUEST
You know, if there's a shad spawn going on, there's some brim spawn, there's going to be some fish go to that and stay around that.

Ott DefoeGUEST
you know, that's their natural cycle is that they're going to seek out a place of refuge to heal up, to rest up, to recover from the spawn and the stress of that on their bodies.
