The moment I returned back from America after I did Project Walk, which is a particular program to help me to walk again, I just wanted to resume my medical career.

I'm a very highly ambitious young woman and I graduated from Raffles Girls School.

Of course, I'm highly ambitious and I just wanted to get back to my medical career.

So I kind of like pushed through, trudged along.

Eventually, I got there in the end and became a physician myself.

Yeah.

Tell me a bit about coming from that.

Yeah, I was born in Singapore, but I grew up between Jakarta and Singapore.

My parents set up a skincare business in Jakarta.

So during school holidays, I'll travel back to Jakarta for holiday.

And then subsequently, I went to Melbourne for medical school.

But growing up in Singapore, Singapore is a nation, is a very organized country, and very highly focused on academia or academic studies.

And we would drill in, the teachers drilled that into us from very early age.

So tell us a bit about the book.

How did beginning a relationship with John change your plans as a doctor?

I think before I met John, I was very h- ambitious.

Um, and I just remember when I started my internship, Grey's Anatomy w- just started.

It seems that all the medical shows seem to start at the certain pivotal points in my life, and I, and they were all surgical interns.

I've always want- I've always been very curious and fascinated, you know, with the nervous system, and neurosurgery was something I really enjoyed.

In fact, my elective and final year medicine was a neurosurgery term at the Alfred Hospital, which is Melbourne's major trauma center.

How was that approach different from what you'd studied in medicine or how you'd thought about medicine before then?
