Is there enough evidence to show that these medical devices, even if they are just collecting data, that they're going to do it properly in these different groups?
10:01
Yes, to be confident that they can work across all those different groups, they must be tested during the clinical trial phases.
10:11
So you have to test among the different groups so that you have evidence that it actually works in all those groups.
12:37
And what about countries like Uganda demanding we need more testing in our populations before these can be approved and rolled out? Are you in a position to be able to do that?
12:50
Yes, that gets back to the regulatory, the ministries of health, the innovators, because I mean, the innovators, when we are innovating, we are aimed at having these products out in the market without the test, but then the different agencies like the Ministry of Health, if they could have these systems strengthened and defined that every innovator should go through this process, or every product that is coming was developed out of Uganda should follow this particular framework and have all those devices tested among these patients, then that would be an easier way to follow.
