And how have you seen things evolve over that time? This location here at 7th and Alvarado is indeed world famous.

Well, you know, it's gone up, down and sideways.

I played in the park as a kid when I was 10, 11, 12 years old.

You know, after school, I would take the bus down.

My parents would come down with them on Saturday.

And that's basically where I grew up in this area.

And as every area does, it changes in time.

And I'm just really happy to be sitting here with you, that you not only have a vision for getting people out of the park and into organizations that can help them, but you have a vision for the neighborhood here so that you know moms and kids and families can get back in the park and play and have a safe place i've got to ask you as you leave that charge is the neighborhood rallying around you i mean are you uh are you the one man waving that banner is the neighborhoods saying hey we're behind you all the way norm

How long has this place been here? And tell us more about Langer's.

Well, we opened, my parents opened a restaurant 79 years ago, June 17th, 1947.

Originally it was 12 seats, 47, then in 52 it grew to 65 seats, and in 1968 it grew to its current configuration, which is 135 seats.

And we've enjoyed the area.

We've enjoyed Westlake MacArthur Park, the city government and all of the medical offices and legal offices everywhere in Los Angeles downtown.

It's been such a boon and such a great place to be.

And, you know, I'm really proud to say the city of Los Angeles and the county is doing their best.

Tell us more about that meeting and what's your understanding on what that facility will do and how many people will be served there?
