So this is a great question.

And the fact that in the UK, wholesale electricity prices are set by an auction every half hour, which means that they're set by the marginal cost of gas, because that's the most expensive, much more expensive than the renewable sources, means that 98% of the time, the cost of electricity in the UK is set by the Cost of gas, which is kind of weird.

And the reason that's a problem, it's actually twofold.

It's a narrative problem, definitely, because it's very easy to make the false comparison between the fact that the UK has got ambitious net zero targets and the fact that the UK has uncompetitively expensive electricity markets.
