... had six plays and didn't got that many points?
4:32
Um, yes and no.
4:33
I mean, there's a lot of football left, you know.
4:34
You still recognize that.
4:35
There's a lot of snaps that are still out there.
4:37
Um, you know, you guys know.
4:39
You guys see the game.

22:12
But, you know, knowing your past, are you watching the Saban documentary at all?
speaker_2UNKNOWN
0:59
And I'm wondering about, one, how close some of them may have been, and two, what does that lack of explosives do when you're trying to call plays in terms of maybe hand covering if you would open some things up?
1:12
Yeah, I mean, that's certainly the name of the game.
1:14
We were more – we eliminated the negative plays better in the game, but what you said is why we didn't score.
1:20
That's just the reality of it.
1:23
And we've got to do better as a staff certainly of making sure that both the routes and the protection are married up together to where the routes that we're asking the guys to run we can protect for a long enough time.
1:37
Those things have to marry together.
1:39
So there were certainly some routes that were open, but maybe the protection didn't hold up or vice versa where we didn't get open quite in the timely manner to allow the quarterback to deliver the football.

... going out and executing?
speaker_2UNKNOWN
1:12
What did you maybe learn about your team in terms of facing that kind of competition on the offensive side? Do you feel like you're closer to where you thought you could be, or how much more work needs to get there?
1:28
I would just say, you know, as far as like measuring, we just look at our ability to win the game and we didn't do that.
1:34
And certainly on our side of the ball, we did not play well enough to win.
1:39
There were some moments of good plays by the guys, but collectively coaches and players, we have to execute better, more consistently against good teams, you know, and yeah, It takes all 11, you can't have 10 guys doing the right thing and one guy not.
1:55
We got to do a better job as a staff of putting them in position to make plays.
2:00
And so it's all of us, we just didn't do good enough.
2:02
So from a measuring stick, we just look at our ability to help our team win the game.

I wonder as far as building that, how does that look from your end? Is it just like you get an idea and you write it down and you want to see how guys rep it? Or do players come to you with feedback for, hey, let's try something funky?
speaker_2UNKNOWN
1:03
you want to run, personnel, what do you have?
1:06
Well, I think honestly, you know, for us, we're focused mostly on how we play.
1:10
You know, it's our job as coaches to identify the strengths of the players.
1:13
And every great offense that I've been a part of, they were different, you know, just based on the different types of players you had.
1:19
And so it certainly starts and finishes up front.
1:22
You know, your ability to block and handle the line of scrimmage, be able to run the and then to be able to take advantage of those defenses that are committed to trying to stop that and be able to push the ball down the field vertically.
1:34
But I think in order to do either of those things well, you have to do the other one well.

11 MINS LATER

13:00
now like you
speaker_4UNKNOWN
1:35
I wonder what you make of that unit and what are the sort of things you're looking for guys to separate?
1:39
First thing, I think they're incredibly well coached.
1:41
You know, I think Coach Tabaka, Colin, Matt, they do a fantastic job.
1:45
They're excellent teachers, great motivators.
1:47
The players love them, but they're hard on them.
1:50
The players appreciate that because they want to be coached and they want to get better.
1:53
I know the entire group feels that way.

10 MINS LATER

11:36
And behind him or fighting with him, I guess the question, what are you seeing from maybe some of the other guys like Tullis and Clarizio? And how much competition is there right now in that group?
