Can you tell us about those, please?

Um, yeah, sure.

So back during the, uh, the centenary of Anzac, uh, through, uh, 2014 to 2018, um, the RAA Historical Company, uh, which, uh, and I forgot to mention, is a volunteer not-for-profit organization.

So it's, it's-- it works to support the Australian Army, but it is, uh, quite an, uh, a distinct organization.

And so what, what I do, what James does, what all of the RAAHC members do is, uh, in a, um, a volunteer capacity.

Uh, but during the centenary of Anzac, uh, we considered that it would be, uh, the right and proper thing to do to assist the Australian Army in acknowledging and recognizing and, uh, recounting the, the experiences of the Australian artillery during the First World War and the lessons that came from that.

And so, uh, we ran a seminar, uh, an eleven-seminar series through 2015 to 2018 that looked at the techniques, the tactics, the procedures, the commanders' and the soldiers' experiences, and also the experiences of other artillery during that, uh, that momentous series of battles and campaigns that, um, that took place.

And you've, you started off by looking at, uh, similarities in Australia's readiness for war, haven't you? Between the 20s, 30s, and today.

Um, So what interests you in that early days of Magic? Were you just doing what we were doing, just playing like, I make a deck, you make a deck, and we fight against each other type of thing?

Well, when we first started, when we got Starter and I bought a couple of boosters from a game store, when I traveled outside of my little town, we went to Salt Lake City and I bought some boosters.

We were just playing all the cards we had.

We didn't know that you could construct a deck.

You could take cards out.

We just played everything we had and we were playing for ante and we didn't know.

And so it was just the two of us at the time until I discovered my locker partner also played.

So I was going to ask you, I'm going to go back to this question, which is how do you get inspired to create a format or to create a new way to play? What is that trigger that gets you to want to do this or that gets you to think like, oh, this would be interesting to do?

And how did God put it in your heart?

Well, I, I really wanted to write, uh, for several years, and have just been, uh, putting it off and putting it off and putting it off.

And at one point, even reached out to somebody and did a book proposal that I thought really was good, and the response I got back, based on what I'd written, I described it as it crushed my soul.

And it, it, uh, it honestly just set me back for-

Mm-hmm.Uh, or write it in the sky of, yes, take this job instead of this job.

Like, um, what I do think is that He uses periods of desperation to give clarity, whether that's through people, whether that's through wisdom, whether that is, you know, in another route.

Um, but what we, we find at the end of that is we are formed more into the likeness of Christ-
