Can we talk about a general day-to-day in your life? Like what does the, you know, the day-to-day look like when you're not being pitched at by something cool or, you know, doing the deal in the final day? What's the average day for you?

Nick BrownGUEST
So a significant part of my life of my job and the most significant part of my job is still kind of doing deals ultimately so um like once our investment team have decided they want to invest in a company they sort of hand it over to the legal team to um to kind of paper the deal do the due diligence get it done um and so that probably takes up the majority of my time um during like we raise a new fund typically every kind of two and a half years so during fundraise periods sorting out all of the fund side of things it becomes a massive part of my role and agreeing kind of the terms of our main fund documents liaising with our investor base which is pretty global now and so that's always a significant part of my job and then like I really enjoy the kind of the more strategic stuff that I get to do.

Nick BrownGUEST
So I sit on the air tree leadership team and, um, uh, get to kind of be in the room when kind of the key decisions about the future of us as a business are made and to, um, to play a role in like the venture capital fund manager as a business.

Nick BrownGUEST
And, and that's, I find that really satisfying and, and that, um, that always takes up a fair chunk of time and then just managing people.

Nick BrownGUEST
So I sit in a, we've a pretty small, but you know, pretty, pretty lean and effective legal and compliance team of three people.

Nick BrownGUEST
And, and we, we work closely together and, and being able to kind of, to mentor people and to manage people in their careers is kind of one of the more rewarding bits of my job and probably something that I didn't get a lot of exposure to in private practice that I get the opportunity to do a bit more now, you know.

What advice would you give to the version of you that's, you know, just graduated that nobody told you back then about career paths?
