What is that like, seeing it from the other side, and has it changed how you think about the runners and the challenges that they face going out?
39:13
It's quite, so I'm very much a back-of-the-pack runner, so it's nice to be able to see some of the fast guys coming through and see just how different they are, and I get a huge admiration for them.
39:25
As I was saying earlier, on something like West Helm Way, I think, actually, people take a long time, and in many ways that's harder if you're coming in at 34 odd hours like the final finishers were this year, that's a harder job than the time I took.
39:43
But seeing the fast guys like Mike and so on coming through is hugely impressive.
39:52
um when you see how quickly they can they can come through how quickly they race up places and it's it's great to see um so yeah that's that's enjoyable and yeah just seeing how how how much it means to tell a lot of runners to be able to complete things it's it's not that you get blase about it but if you've done a lot um you almost sort of take it take your ability to be able to do that, the fact that you can, the fact you've got the health to be able to do these things almost for granted some of the time and actually to see what some other people go through to be able to get a finish and how much it means to them and how sometimes it takes kind of the whole community to rally around them and try and persuade them, yeah, you can go on.
40:43
And the number of times I've had someone would never try to push someone on that wasn't fit to finish a race but sometimes people come in and but like I was saying earlier if you're not in the right mental state it can stop and can seem like the easy answer and I know that sometimes you can regret that and spending a bit of time with some of these runners to sort of go over right this is how you're feeling especially if it's a race you know well and you can talk to them about, well actually see the next bit it's, like you say you're meeting someone at Inverstead, I feel rubbish here, well actually the next bit you've got a good, it's quite technical so you've got to be going slower, everyone goes slower, it's a chance to walk for a while, see how you feel, after that you'll be able to go at a slower pace for the next wee while and not lose your position and so on.
41:39
So, and sometimes, yeah, people come up to you later and be grateful that you've persuaded them to keep going.
