HEDx Student Experience - EP7

And what do you think changes when those students are from a really broad range of areas, but they're equal participants, not just observers in those conversations?

I think something I spoke about earlier was that bad decisions made by universities that haven't consulted students can often end bad for both the university and the students.

And that if you had just spoken to a student about how it affects them, it could have saved this whole process.

And so I think having this diverse range of students and having them inform a perspective can lead to a university where the purpose is being fulfilled and where students are being heard, but also produces desirable outcomes for that university, whether it be you know, their graduate research has gone up or student satisfaction has gone up or enrolments have gone up.

And so it's easy for us to look at the now and look at how difficult it is to get these students in the room and the dissent that they may be having to certain opinions of the university, but the outcomes and what can happen at the end can often be really beneficial.

how do you think we can encourage students to want to be in the room in the first place? So what kind of things can institutions do to be proactive to make sure they're inclusive and students can really have the ability to sign up to these opportunities when they're also juggling a number of things that you just spoke about and the broader panel spoke about with everything that involves their student life so they're already struggling with cost of living managing their studies and other personal commitments um what kind of things can institutions do to
