... my very, very, very excellent art teacher, Miss Duggan, she-- we were doing a thing ab- um, the theme was about women or womanhood or something like that, and she said, "Well, we can't, we can't talk about womanhood without talking about Frida Kahlo." And I was like, "Who the heck is that?" And obviously then once the pictures came up, I was like, "Oh, I know her." Like, "Yeah, that's fine." And then just this long fascination with her ever since.

And going to her-- There was an exhibition at the V&A that me and my husband went to a couple of years back.

Um, and it only like helped me deep dive into that whole, her whole world, and she was unapologetic, and I think that is the thing that I've taken away from it all is, and her life and her legacy and everything else, is like just how unapologetic she was.

And in the exhibition at the V&A, we also had a snippet about what her house is like in Mexico.
Grief, Growth and Rebuilding a Creative Life, with Natty Harris

It was, it was a, a really different grief because she'd ha- she had Parkinson's and dementia, so it was quite a long process to, you know, say goodbye to her and all that kind of stuff.

And she was living, still living in Brazil, so I could only see her, like, once a year when I had e- enough annual leave and all that kind of stuff.

And I'm not saying that one is harder than the other, they're just different.

Um, but that grieving process of losing her, and also the fact that she was older, so in your head there's that, like, social construct that says, "Oh, that's fine." Like, that's, you know, it doesn't feel as unjust or unjust as, you know, when Thomas died at 24.
