For our Bible reading this evening, we turn to Romans chapter 8, Romans 8 in connection with Lord's Day 9 of the Heidelberg Catechism.
0:18
So one of the sections in Romans 8 that we'll focus on are verses 8 14, 15, and 16, in light of the truth that God is our Father.
0:36
But I chose Romans 8 also because there are multiple references to the resurrection and the fruits of the resurrection of Christ for us.
0:48
So think about those themes as we read this entire chapter tonight, Romans 8.
0:53
Romans 8.
0:55

Let's turn in the Word of God this morning to Psalm 27.
0:04
Psalm 27.
0:05
It's a well-known psalm to us.
0:23
And we'll reflect at the beginning of the sermon on one of the main ideas of verse 4. in light of the overarching theme of the sermon that explains God as triune.
0:35
So let's read this psalm.
0:38
It's a psalm of David.
0:00
Isaiah chapter 26 in connection with Lord's Day seven of the Heidelberg Catechism.
0:09
You'll notice in the beginning of this chapter the references to trusting in the Lord.
0:16
As I mentioned a moment ago, one of the words as we just sang for what it means to believe in God, faith.

0:31
1 John 4, one of the passages that teach us about who Christ is as the only begotten Son of God.
0:40
This is the Word of God this morning that we read.

0:30
We'll read the entire chapter this morning.
0:32
This is the word of God in Hebrews chapter 2.

0:00
We will turn in the Word of God this morning to Isaiah chapter 53.
0:05
Isaiah chapter 53.
0:17
Isaiah 53 is likely the clearest Old Testament passage that describes for us the suffering of the Lord Jesus Christ for the sins of His people.
0:35
Prophetic of what we then see explained for us in the Gospel accounts with the actual suffering and crucifixion of the Lord Jesus Christ.
0:46
And so as we read this, we can think of the Lord Jesus on the cross bearing the iniquity of His people in the payment of sin, which we'll see this morning is the satisfaction of the justice of God.
1:02
Isaiah chapter 53.
0:00
Let's turn in the scriptures tonight to Isaiah chapter 66.
0:04
Isaiah chapter 66, the last chapter in Isaiah's prophecy.

0:34
Let's read the entire chapter, Isaiah 66.
0:39

8:25
Canst thou keep all these things perfectly? In no wise, for I am prone by nature to hate God and my neighbor.
8:53
Beloved in the Lord Jesus Christ, in our sermon last week as we began the Heidelberg Catechism, we focused on the wonderful comfort that we have as Christians.
9:04
The comfort of knowing that we are with God, that we belong to God through His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.
9:15
We expounded that comfort last week from Isaiah chapter 51, a beautiful chapter that shows to us the wonderful comfort that we have of being with God.
9:28
Maybe you recall that language of Isaiah 51, the language of the Garden of Eden and the Garden of the Lord.
9:37
Not the first garden, so much greater than that, as through Christ we live with God.
9:47
And we learn from Isaiah 51 that the solid foundation of that life with God is a perfect righteousness, not of ourselves, but in Christ.

Turning God's Word this morning to Philippians chapter 4, Philippians 4, in connection with the conclusion of the Lord's Prayer, Lord's Day 52b.
0:18
Read this for a very simple reason, and that is, it's one of the places where the Apostle ends a book with A very brief doxology of praise in verse 20, which parallels the way in which we conclude the Lord's Prayer with the doxology of praise.
0:40
So let's read this entire chapter.
0:42
"'Therefore, my brethren, dearly beloved, and longed for, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, my dearly beloved.' I beseech Iodius and beseech Syntyche that they be of the same mind in the Lord.

The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed.
0:48
Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly, not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind, neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being examples to the flock.

I sent the information wrong into the bulletin.
0:02

0:39

0:09
Ephesians 1.
0:13
And in the bulletin, Job 1.
0:15
We'll briefly mention a couple things from Job 1.
0:19
But one of the main points that we want to really remember this morning and see everything in light of this morning comes from Ephesians 1.
1:08
Nathan?
1:09
All right.
1:10
Thanks, Tom.
1:11
Well, we're going to start today with a little bit of everybody's favorite thing, rules, is we're gonna talk about the Kthorc Borg system for those that are unaware.
1:20
We've already run through character generation, so we won't do that here, but I wanna highlight the rules that everyone will want to know about.
1:30
First up, everybody has five abilities down the line: agility, presence, strength, toughness, and stability.
