When did you really believe that, oh, hang on a minute, I've got a chance here? Because there's always something that happens in there, like within a session or in a week that you think, actually I can do this and I can hold my own like was that that pre-season or was there something before that was yeah it was
17:33
it was no even even like the youth cup was great but that was that was just like in those days it was just expected that you won the youth cup as well so it wasn't really seen as like a big thing But yeah, when I went over to the first team and we were doing like, you know the drill they do at the end of sessions where the coach is standing beside the goal, pings it out, two touch and a D.
17:53
And we were doing that and I was like reading the players and saving a lot of shots and they would come up to me after and there was two really big profile players that come up to me separately and was like, oh, you've got a chance, Nath.
18:05
Keep pushing, keep doing well.
18:07
And those two players were players that used to abuse young lads when they went over and I was thinking, wow, these two are saying it to me.
18:14
i was thinking quite like i'm actually like i'm actually all right and yeah just that gave me the belief to then push and and when i went over the um the manager at the time was contest who had an italian goalie coach and he said to me um if you were in italy right now we would send you on on loan and i was like 17 at this point and um that's when i started doing research and looking at like all of the goalies that had come through, like your Pickfords and all of that, who were playing at a top level, oh, they went on loan to non-league.
18:44
Because now everyone sends their young goalies to non-league.

How have you
5:02
And yeah, trying to be impactful towards the end of my career to try and help a club achieve their goals.
5:10
Yeah, exactly the same for me.
5:11
I've known the Gaffer and PT for quite a while, nearly signed for them.
5:16
quite a few times so I think it was seventh time lucky Richie sent me on a message.
5:22
I don't think it was quite that many times but no it was really nice to obviously finally get it over the line.
5:28
The last time I was in this division the club got to a play-off final so it's obviously an ambitious club and similar to what Isaac said it's an opportunity for me to come and hopefully play as many minutes as possible.
5:39
It's something I didn't have at Watford last season and I really miss playing every week and obviously I've I've been really close to promotion in this division and last at Wembley and I really feel like I'm so desperate to go on better with this club and I'm feeling really positive about it so far.
7:26
So for me, it was it was a no brainer.
103:10
Take me back to that terrifying morning back in 2016.
103:14
Oh, my goodness.
103:15
It was bizarre.
103:17
I'd gone on for several months of getting worse and worse and being told I was having all number of different mental health complaints.
103:27
And then I woke up one morning, I was having a central apnea.
103:30
So I meant my brain detected that I wasn't breathing and thought I was suffocating.
103:35
So I woke up gasping.
106:16
Is that what happened?

14:48
What's your experience been coaching an athlete through, um, their varying pain experiences over time and dealing with the athlete's, uh, beliefs about their pain?
15:00
Uh, I think the a- the belief one is, is huge.
15:03
Um, absolutely huge.
15:05
Like, pain, you know, we can modu- like, not so much that nociceptive type of pain.
15:11
You know, that's gonna hurt the same most times.
15:13
Uh, but that belief about what the injury or the pain means, I think that's huge.
15:19
Um, I immediately thought of a story of, uh, I know two people that did, um, in field sports, they did full Achilles ruptures.
19:42
Nathan, I'd love to hear your take on this.
