What's the play about?

Ah, cool.

It's, um, it's called Consent.

It's on in Newcastle, and essentially it's about justice.

It's about, um, these two lawyers who are friends.

Uh, and yeah, look, it's, it's kind of hard.

[laughs] It, it's, it is a comedy in some ways, but it's also, you know, it's about, um, who do, who does, who does the court serve, and what, uh, what is consent, and what is revenge, and what is acceptable, uh, I guess, in society.

Mm.

So this isn't about writing, but what is one of the things that you've learnt from your classes that was kind of a, a really interesting or a light bulb or just kind of just a, a thing that you went, "Oh"?

I'm not sure.

I, you know, I think something that's been driven home to me perhaps the most is spending time on your craft is always worthwhile, and I feel like this is something I always kind of inherently knew.

And like, as you know, I take singing lessons, I take piano lessons, so I, I do believe in the, the value of, of taking classes and something, and stuff like that.

But here we are on a Sunday, every single Su- Sunday, spending five to six hours just on the craft of acting and, and it's so powerful.

And to be surrounded by other people who are doing the same thing and who are interested in that, and to have access to these incredible mentors, like, it just, it really does give you permission to go, "Oh, no, this is something that's actually important to me.

This is something that-

[laughs]

in terms of acting, I think in Sydney.

Because, uh, Sydney's just so big and, uh, hard to get around and stuff like that.

Whereas in Newcastle, Newcastle's just small enough, and there's loads of creative people here, and we've got, um, terrific facilities.

And so ...

And, and everyone's just constantly making, making something, so there's always opportunities to get involved in stuff.
