Has the president or the aides at the White House said any more about beef processing regulations?

No, not yet, but it was such an interesting exchange that we saw unfold, and honestly, I think that's how a lot of these policy sort of proclamations that we see via true social, uh, happen.

You know, someone gets into the president's ear, and then, you know, he sort of works it, um, through sort of more formal policymaking channels.

But essentially what it does is it sort of put him in a position where he could kind of defend, uh, you know, the latest, uh, you know, cost of living or affordability measures that he has introduced.

Um, those were in particular the ones last week about, um, a sort of exemption or a short-term exemption of 90 days on, uh, beef, ground beef imports, um, where he said that he secured a deal for, um, a, you know, those people to import their products at a twenty-five percent, uh, price, sort of less than market value.

But the problem is, is that the White House hasn't come out and told us where that is coming from.

We saw a similar measure come out last year when it was about Argentine beef products, and that had, um, sort of a very, uh, fierce backlash from Republicans, particularly from, you know, country, uh, parts of the country where, uh, beef is one of their prime industries.

Well, specifically, who has been commenting about this new beef importation plan to, to lower prices? Members of Congress? Trade associations?

And from your perspective as a PDL professional officer, Naomi, what do you think pharmacists struggle with when they receive a regulatory notification?

When pharmacists receive a regulatory notification, I think the first struggle is almost always emotional.

Perhaps it hits at the core of who we are.

Pharmacy is a profession built on precision, trust, and the expectation that we don't get things wrong.

So when the notification arrives, many pharmacists describe feelings of shock, denial, shame, even fear.

Fear of reputational harm, fear for their registration, and fear that this one moment will overshadow years of safe practice.

These emotions can become quite consuming.

I'd like to turn now towards the importance of pharmacists looking after their own wellbeing.

Naomi, what stands out?

I mean, I think he came in with a bang.

You know, he signed, you know, a record-breaking amount of executive orders, memos, proclamations.

But I think the one big success was Congress passing the one big beautiful act him because that you know really was a um the cornerstone of his agenda in terms of what he ran on uh in the election in 2024 you know we're still still sort of seeing him struggle a little bit to sell it to the public he's kind of changed the name to you know the working families um tax cut uh but i think that it will be really important going into the midterms that he promote that bill because it really is what the voters wanted.

And so I think that's the big thing.

I think the other thing, when I talk about it being a seismic year, I think there's no doubt that he's just totally reshaped the way that the White House works, the federal government works, and then even he's sort of changed different things in Washington, D.C. And by that, I sort of mean, you know, he's undertaken this huge ballroom construction.

He's sort of demolished the East Wing.

Trump did promise to end the war between Russia and Ukraine, and we're still going on with that.

Naomi, what are you hearing?

So basically, the Republican Party is split with regards to how Trump is approaching Venezuela.

He's obviously taking a very aggressive approach to it, where he has been striking alleged narco-terrorist boats off of the coast, in the Caribbean Sea, as well as in the Pacific Ocean.

And it's caused Republicans, you know, more traditional Republicans concerned, one, because they didn't like the briefings that they were getting from the White House and the administration.

That has since sort of been rectified.

And then the other hand, he's also kind of rankled his MAGA base because, you know, he campaigned last year on this idea of ending, you know, so-called forever wars.

And because of there's been this military buildup around the Venezuela coast, as well as, you know, CIA covert operations, I think that is causing sort of consternation because people are seeing, you know, these predicates to previous wars.
