But to me, Willie's in that kind of conversation, right? In terms of a profound transformation in a short time, do you get that sense of what he's done at Houston and what their expectations are this year?

I've covered Willie Fritz since he was at Tulane, and I had a front row seat to that season, that special season, when they went from 2-10 to 10-2, end up capping that, or 12-2, excuse me, and end up winning the Cotton Bowl, coming back to beat USC.

And to this day, it's the best college football game I've ever seen in person in my life.

So for him to sort of take this same recipe, these same ingredients over to Houston, I knew it was only a matter of time before he got things going there.

And year two, a 10-win season, capped off with their Texas Bowl win last year.

He's a guy that, again, just...

I say this word a lot, but it really is culture and just brotherhood that he's created amongst these teams, and he finds a way to do it quickly.

It's not been that long of one yet, but you came out of Missouri, a great broadcast school, and were you always, as a young person, kind of looking to get into this field?

What does great sideline reporting actually require that people watching at home never see?

I think I've always said that 90% of my job, people never see.

Maybe it's even higher than that.

Maybe it's 95%.

Because it goes into the work that we're doing throughout the week and making those phone calls.
