Monica, I know you have been steeped in this conversation at BoardSource and would love to have you chime in on unpacking this a bit and telling us a little bit about why is this so important right now?
3:10
Yeah, well, first, I'm really excited that we're talking about boards because as you mentioned, they are the thing that stands often in the way of an organization fulfilling its mission and purpose or really the engine and the possibility.
3:26
And I like to think about it as like, how do we make our boards truly partners in our possibility and hope for the world that we're all trying to create? If it's helpful, I can just sort of take a step up and say, okay, so what does that mean? What does it mean to have conversations that guide us in the direction that we all kind of want to go and the change that we're trying to make? We have a framework called purpose-driven board leadership, which I think you alluded to, is how do we lead with purpose? It doesn't change the function of the board.
3:59
We still have to pass a budget.
4:00
We still have to hire the CEO, fire the CEO, whatever the oversight and accountability pieces, the compliance for the organization.
4:09
But the way that we have those conversations are really built around four different things.
4:15
So one is a principle of centering our purpose over our institution.

So what advice and thinking would you want to offer to folks? So Monica, I think we'll start with you and then Kevin, you can close us out on this question.
