So how do the two of you think about that transition, and when does it actually begin?
2:41
That's a really good question.
2:42
So I don't think a pet wakes up one day and just becomes a senior all of a sudden.
2:47
So aging is a really gradual process, obviously, and it looks so different between a Great Dane, a Chihuahua, a cat even.
2:57
And so for me, that transition really begins when we start paying closer attention for those age-related diseases that start kind of coming on board for them.
3:08
A lot of those can also be related to function for these guys as they get older as well, which we'll talk about more here today as well.
3:17
But certainly, I think, you know, when I start seeing this animal or this patient in front of me hit this time in their life where they become more prone to age-related disease, that's really when I start thinking about them as seniors.

And we just have chef's kiss, perfect product.
3:02
Yeah.
3:03
Yeah, so I do a lot with seniors because I'm obsessed with them, Tracy.
3:07
That's great.
3:08
That's so cool.
3:09
Ever since vet school.
3:11
So Senior Dog Vet Society is an organization that I run for veterinarians and vet teams to help keep them up to date on the latest in geriatrics care because there's so much coming out right now with how to better care for these older pets and older patients of ours.
3:25
And then the thing that I'm super excited to talk about is, of course, Senior Pet Con, which is for pet parents.

has that happened? Have you done this before? And what is, what kind of embarrassing questions do people ask? Why would they be, what could embarrass them?
3:15
How prevalent is OA in the aging canine population?
3:18
Yes.
3:19
G- a good question.
3:19
So the stats vary a lot, and I think you probably know this too, Dr. Beth, from your perspective too.
3:23
I'm like, "What is the right stat?" Like, there's so many of them you hear about OA.
3:27
And they vary just a lot of it depending on the study, but in general, you're, you're...
3:31
When you look at the data and, uh, looking at large number of dogs, it usually shows that it can range from a 20% in dogs older than one year of age and up to 80% in dogs older than eight years of age.
8:37
What tools do we have for addressing that inflammation that's happening in the joint that you just described?
