And so I am curious what made you decide, look, I have to do something about this right now? 'Cause it's easy to think that, and it's another totally different thing for so many of us people to actually do it.

Part of it was probably experience.

One thing I've learned is that if you're always waiting for the right time to come along, it doesn't.

If you're telling yourself, "As soon as I get done with this project," or, "I pass this milestone in my life or a holiday," there's always going to be something else.

And so some of it I have just learned over time that it's better to start taking small steps in the right direction than just wait as if the greatest job on earth is gonna fall into my lap.

Unfortunately, I haven't really [laughs] experienced that ever happening.

So that's part of it.

So where did that seed start to really grow? Where did that seed start to not just be there in the background, but really start to take hold?

Like I'm at a point in my career where I'm ready to do this.

Yeah, absolutely.

Well, and it's been a bit of a long journey.

I'll try to condense it a bit for your podcast, but it really started during COVID almost exactly six years ago.

A few different things happened.

For one, I was stuck at home with two young kids in virtual school and felt kind of disconnected from the outside world.

And so I started to get really active on LinkedIn.

Just talk to me about all the things.

What was the hardest part of making that leap and what finally gave you the confidence and urge to make that leap?

Well, thank you for saying that.

It really did feel like a leap.

And there were days that I woke up and was wondering if it was a bit of a crazy leap, but it's one that I'm glad that I made.

So I will say, honestly, the biggest sticking point was financial stability.

I wanted to make sure that my family would be in a good position if it took a while for the business to get traction, as most new businesses do.

And so there was a lot of planning that went into that.

As you have, what's one piece of advice you'd offer, not just to build a more successful practice, but to actually feel like the work is both sustainable and worth it again?

Tell me what happened on the day she passed.

I had actually talked to her the night before, and I was fortunate enough to have one of those really great two-hour-long conversations with her, and it started about nothing.

Um, and then we wound up talking about everything, and she was really excited for the summer and the plans we were gonna make.

She had a doctor's appointment the next morning.

She headed to her doctor's appointment, and I messaged her.

She told me that she was there, she would get back with me.And I went about my day, and I didn't hear from her.

You know, did all the things you're supposed to do.

Misty, are you hoping beyond this case, no matter what the outcome is, it will get enough attention to speak to people?
