What made you want to pursue a career in orchestras?

Well, I didn't particularly... mean long story short i didn't that was not like my childhood dream or something like that um when i was in still in bulgaria i was playing a lot of repertoire basically there was orchestra and like as a subject but it was not really something that was very important in my school you know let's say let's put it that way for good or for bad you know i would say maybe for bad but It was not really that somehow amazing subject for us.

But I was focused a lot on repertoire and playing with piano, learning all the concertos, listening to all the great masters of trumpet and trying to imitate.

So I went to study, I went to Germany where I studied with Max Sommerhalder.

uh in a city called detmold which is tiny city but with a great school and an amazing teacher and then i went there and i started to do competitions which i was doing in bulgaria too and i thought man now you know i'm gonna win some competitions and i'm gonna become soloist and it's all you know all organized once i win a few competitions that that's it okay i started to practice this that and then i yes i i had some success in competitions and i won some prizes but then i saw maybe i got a gig or two off after the competition you know but it was not really like it was not what i expected let's say um and then uh my teacher max asked me So what about, would you be interested to play in orchestra? I was like, orchestra? No, man.

But then I thought, that's so arrogant of me.

How can I say that without even knowing what it is, you know? I should at least get a position, like win an audition and then talk and then cancel, you know? And so that's how I ended up doing like a, internship in an orchestra and then a guy came to ask me hey we have a principal position in Mannheim in Germany in opera big opera house and then he was like would you be interested to come to the audition I was like
