No mess

... literally no rule book on being the parent of a child with a disability, and I really didn't have anybody in my family or my husband's family that had disabilities, so we were learning as we go.

Try, just trying to do the best that we could, and always very, um, committed to keeping his life as typical, as normal as we could.

Treating him the same way as my daughter, that, you know, as my younger son when he came to town.

Um, but when Oliver was eight years old-He came home from school and said, "Mom, I'm really sick of wearing sweatpants every day." Um, but he had to because he couldn't do buttons and zippers.

He couldn't fit jeans over his leg braces, and in order for him to go to the bathroom on his own, he had to wear sweatpants.

But he came home from school and said, "I, I really, really wanna wear jeans like everybody else gets to wear." And it was a true humongous kick-in-the-stomach moment, not only as somebody that dedicated her career to the fashion industry, but also as a mom, that I, I couldn't solve it, number one.

Okay, so when you said, like, this is a bigger problem, we need to find clothing that can fit other individuals, where did you take this to make it bigger? Like you're like, "Okay, I started off with a pair of, like, scissors and, like, Velcro." But when were you like, "Okay, this is, like, a legit systematic problem," what was your next steps?
