That's Miles Taylor, a Santa Cruz-based natural builder and one of the next-gen CASBA members.

And while a lot of people do, we have a certain specific set of skills and interests.

Miles TaylorGUEST
CASBA as an organization and an association has kind of done this great job of compiling all of those people together.

Miles TaylorGUEST
And, you know, when you do that, it creates an energy and a buzz and a connection within people that you want to see each other succeed.

Miles TaylorGUEST
And then on the downtimes, when things aren't going so great, you have a rough year, you have a rough project, to have that community, to have that family-type connection with folks who understand what you're going through, to provide an opportunity to shoot somebody a text or give them a call, have a conversation to get some of that wisdom that was in the founders group that's now being passed on to the generation coming forward.

Miles TaylorGUEST
It's really a priceless thing as a group of people and a connection and a web that we're hoping that will just continue to grow and spread as straw continues to grow as a building resource.

And that's really my hope for this younger generation is that they could see a way to make a living having this passion for using more natural materials.
