How do you as a manager sort of mesh the numbers and maybe what you're getting from the front office guys versus what you see right in front of you on a daily basis?

Well, I think the numbers are important, and they've quantified a lot of things that we knew through experience from going through the game.

And they've quantified some things, and they made you look in some other directions on other things.

I think you never want to take that human feel away from, particularly the pitcher and catcher.

That relationship is the most important one in the game.

And I talk about a guy like Oral or Fernando or these guys that were the iconic pitchers that just, there were heads and tails above people.

Their ability to understand the game, understand what was working for them and to change speeds and to maybe throw a pitch that they were confident in that might be against what the book might tell them or what the numbers might tell them.
