However well I'm playing those games or winning those games or losing those games has
30:33
to affect the weather on the inside of me.
30:38
So the internal game is the main game.
30:41
I believe in God.
30:44
So the macro game I'm playing, the primordial game I guess I play is... is loving God with my heart, my soul, my mind.
31:00
My purpose is to be a blessing, love people, have a good time sharing the gifts God has given me.
31:07
And then all the other goals are just sort of fun underneath that.

26 MINS LATER

56:49
Mike, anything that you would close on?
speaker_2UNKNOWN
21:26
Mm.
21:26
And there's been hardship internally, but you know what? Instead of trying to make myself more famous, more money, so I can get more stuff and make my little box inside LA more comfortable, I'm gonna make it as uncomfortable as possible.
21:42
I'm gonna do something I don't know if I can do, and it's gonna be physically hard.
21:46
It's actually gonna be dangerous, and it's gonna be so divorced from what I'm supposed to do that it might actually risk the work that I put in the last 10 years of my life to become a pop star.
21:59
And this is when my agents and managers told me, they said, "Y- you're gonna ruin your whole career by doing this." Okay, let's go.
22:06
And for me, that was my real bar mitzvah.
22:09
That was my real starting to become an adult.

12 MINS LATER

34:41
Yeah.
2:10
Great to have you.
2:11
Hey, Ed.
2:12
Good to meet you, and thanks for having me on.
2:14
And, you know, um, it's humbling to hear that introduction.
2:20
But, you know, all those things that I've done, they've been amazing, and I'm mostly proud of them.
2:27
Although I'm also keenly aware that some non-trivial part of the inspiration to do them was I was addicted to getting other people to like me, and they're not my biggest accomplishment.
2:42
The-- Even all those added up together on the external, my biggest accomplishment is I went from somebody whose emotional home base, their set point, was depressed, was negative, to somebody whose emotional set point now is joy, faith, and love.
5:04
Mm.
49:27
Yeah.
49:28
And he wasn't there for that reason at all.
49:33
So th- there's more, and I remember this question that my friend taught me.
49:37
If you're ever trapped in the small talk, and you wanna go deeper, ask this question.
49:43
I said, "If I pray for you, what should I pray for?" He takes a second, and his eyes go down to the ground.
49:55
And he said, "Mike, five years ago, my father died from drinking.
50:05
And three years ago, my only sibling, my big brother, who was like my rock, he died from drinking.
52:35
Take us out.
48:37
[laughs] [applauds]
48:42
Thank you.
48:42
And so I made the decision, but still, these negative thoughts kept coming up in my head.

head.Thoughts like, what if I really hurt myself permanently from doing this walk? What if I fail? What if I don't make it across and, like, I fail in front of everyone? [gentle music] But on April 15th, 2019, I stood off the coast of New Jersey and I took a step, and when I took that step, all the fears and doubts about what might happen if I chose to do this, they disappeared because I was doing it, and that's when I learned the second lesson.
