For a train wreck, is there a notable time something's gone spectacularly wrong for you on stage you can look back and laugh about now?
13:13
Yes, of course, you know, 46 years on the road, things are bound to go wrong.
13:18
I mean, it's, it's everything from, so, uh, in, in the very early days when all I had was a Rhodes and a, and a secondhand mini Moog, I would be literally going on stage before we went on stage and with a long, thin screwdriver trying to get the unisons on the mini Moog, because they would have drifted between the sound check and the gig forever.
13:39
Um, I wish I'd kept that bloody Minimoog cause it was, you know, it was an early Mark Minimoog and how they, they, they changed in iteration.
13:46
I mean, I've got a, I've got one from 1979 now, which was better because it stayed more in tune and it's still got great sound.
13:54
But, you know, I've played other mini Moogs, which are particularly fat in a particular area.
13:59
I mean, that wasn't so much of a train crash, but I did have a train crash once when we were doing the ballad It's Over.
18:30
Tell us what you feel you're able to talk about it.
9:03
Oh, exciting.
9:05
Absolutely.
9:05
It's the band's first time and it's my first time.
9:08
Oh, wow.
9:09
And it's a country I've heard so much about, not least from my relatives that live on the North Island.
9:15
So I'm really looking forward to coming for Lots of reasons.
9:18
Can you please explain this Kiwi connection? Okay, so Aunty Betty went over to New Zealand, married a New Zealander, had three sons.
9:48
I

Sure.

So we'd sort of get around to each other's flat and listen to records and stuff.
2:50
And when we eventually started a group, we started as an instrumental group inspired by those musicians that I've mentioned.
2:58
And we were jamming at, I'd hide the percussion room at the Guildhall for our first ever jam sessions.
3:05
And Phil and Boone, the two brothers, Boone played guitar.
3:11
Their older brother, one of their older brothers, John, was working at MCA Records, and he knew that there was a guy with an independent label that was looking to sign a band.
3:19
And he told him, oh, my brothers are in a band.
