Did you always know you wanted to be a baseball player?
1:48
No, that was the farthest thing from my mind.
1:50
Any professional sports was not talked about.
1:52
Even though both parents were athletes in college, it was all about education.
1:58
It was always about sports was a means to an end.
2:00
It was never an end in itself.
2:03
And I know for them, if I got the grades right, Then any school I went to, if I did want to pursue sports, that would probably be an option.
5:07
Tell me about, like, what was that like, your first, like, being called up to the majors? I can't even imagine, like, you were going to play basketball and football, and now here you are.
27:33
Any moments stand out for you so far this year, Mike?
27:36
Well, I think you forgot about a rookie pitcher coming up, and after a Leehoff home run, it's like, now we're just going to put up zeros for the next six innings.
27:46
It's hard not to go against Caro and winning the series against the Cubs, especially when you think about what Peters did two innings before.
27:57
Sure.
27:58
His first, you know, major league home run that you felt like put you up to win the game and win the series.
28:05
And then Edgar comes through.
28:06
I mean, I think you're right.
32:47
And what's going on? If people are looking for something for their kids to keep them busy and also to get better at baseball, how do they go about signing them up for a White Sox camp?
25:17
Mike, I wanna bring you in and just ask you, how much fun has this season been as a White Sox fan, watching them develop before our eyes so quickly, probably a lot faster than I think even Chris Getz and his front office believe was possible?
25:34
Yeah, I mean, th- thank you so much for having me on, Jeff.
25:37
This, this has been a lot of fun, and I'm sure for Sox fans brings back lots of memories of, of years a- and teams in the past that you always hope, but you never really know how young talent is gonna react when they get to the major leagues.
25:54
You always hope, but you never really know how they're gonna blend and mesh as a team, knowing you have so many different people coming from so many different backgrounds.
26:04
And it has been extremely fun to see Chris being able to bring in people to the front office that are from outside sort of the White Sox family, and bring different thoughts, methods, technologies, and see it all come together, and I think you're right.
26:23
I, I think it does feel a little bit like San Antonio in the basketball world-
27:57
Sure
27:57
... two innings before his first, you know, Major League home run that you felt like put you up to win the game and win the series, and then Edgar comes through.
