I'm curious, applying the lessons that we've learned from these previous disruptions, What do you think the plan should be for transitioning into an AI economy? And whose job do you think it really
27:04
is? I don't think I know, and I don't think anybody knows really for sure.
27:09
I mean, I think figuring out how you use this as a tool, it's a very effective tool.
27:17
I use it.
27:18
I use it mostly as a search engine, but you can use it obviously for other things.
27:25
I think, you know, there's a lot of dangers.
27:28
Part of the danger is, you know, one of the things we value and I think will be even more important in the days ahead is critical thinking.

What we're
7:39
What has happened with that community since?
7:44
Well, most of them have continued to work.
7:46
I think some of them, um, you know, have left.
7:50
Um, we don't really know how many, but there's certainly a lot of them s- there that are, that are still working.
7:56
Of course, as you know, what happens when TPS actually goes into effect, um, which looks like it'll be tomorrow, uh, um, you know, they can't work anymore.
8:05
And they won't have any way to make, to make a living.
8:08
It'll be illegal for companies to employ them.
9:44
What are you hearing from businesses and business owners about how they plan on coping, what they're gonna do if these are jobs that American citizens don't necessarily want?

27:12
And I wonder if you can take us through that strategy a little bit, both what you did that led you to this, but also what didn't work and what still is sort of a work in progress.
27:22
I think one thing we have is what, what we call JobsOhio, uh, where we basically privatized, a number of years ago under Governor Kasich, we privatized our economic development.
27:33
And when I became governor, I started working with them very, very, very closely.
27:37
Um, they're aligned with everything that we, that we do.
27:40
It gives us, I think, a strategic advantage.
27:42
But you know, I think, uh, it's a cultural thing in a sense, in two, in two respects.
27:47
One, uh, we are focused on making this a business-friendly state.

33:49
So what do you do about that beyond that investment?
12:59
What's your take?
13:02
Well, I think it's a mistake for a number of reasons.
13:06
First of all, to go back to what you were just discussing, you cannot fly into Port-au-Prince today.
13:12
U.S. carriers are prohibited from going in there.
13:14
They've extended that ban.
13:17
Federal officials in the United States have extended that ban into September now, and it's been there for a long time.
13:23
The reason they can't go in there is because these gang leaders who control a good part of Haiti today shoot at the planes when they come in.
15:53
Are you gonna fight it?
8:45
Why do you think that's a mistake?
8:48
Uh, I think the policy's wrong.
8:50
Uh, the policy is wrong.
8:52
Uh, what I'm seeing s- specifically in Springfield and, and in Ohio, you talked about a number of Haitians who have come in.
9:00
You're seeing in Springfield a s- a city that is coming back.
9:04
Uh, it's been coming back for the last few years, and frankly, one of the reasons it's come back is because of the Haitians who have been there to fill jobs that were simply not being filled at all.
9:15
And that's what the employers, uh, will, will tell you.
11:13
What's your response to what they're saying?
0:39
Why do you think that's a mistake?
0:43
Uh, I think the policy's wrong.
0:45
Uh, the policy is wrong.
0:47
Uh, what I'm seeing s- specifically in Springfield and, and in Ohio, you talked about a number of Haitians who have come in.
0:55
You're seeing in Springfield a s- a city that is coming back.

Uh, it's been coming back for the last few years, and frankly, one of the reasons it's come back is because of the Haitians who have been there to fill jobs that were simply not being filled at all.
1:10
And that's what the employers, uh, will, will tell you.
3:08
What's your response to what they're saying?
0:40
Why do you think that's a mistake?
0:44
I think the policy is wrong.
0:45
The policy is wrong.
0:48
What I'm seeing specifically in Springfield and in Ohio, You talked about a number of Haitians who have come in.
0:55
You're seeing in Springfield a city that is coming back.
0:59
It's been coming back for the last few years.
1:01
And frankly, one of the reasons it's come back is because of the Haitians who have been there to fill jobs that were simply not being filled at all.
5:14
So what's the balance there to you?
