Two months before the record's coming out, I was driving in Run from Run-D.M.C.' 's BMW.

I'm in the passenger seat.

He's driving, so I'm, like, thrilled, because, you know, I idolize Run-D.M.C. and, like, the fact that they've taken us in, and I'm driving with him, and he's playing an advance copy of our album, a cassette tape, in his car.

And then he, like, plays one song.

I forget which order it is.

Like, hit.

Actually, one of your sons borrowed a piece of equipment from Ad-Rock.

Mm.

So that's kind of they, what they, um, know and what they know with me.

Um, but then it's actually kind of been an incredible thing in terms of doing this tour because I, I didn't...

You know, I, I sort of have this gift, like I was talking earlier about being, um, I stay pretty naive about a lot of things.

And, like, I didn't, I didn't realize, like, it just sort of ha- effortlessly happened, like, all right, I'm gonna, I have to put this band together to go on tour.

They were involved in the record.

... and more open to that.

They don't have to worry about money.

Is it a form of...

It's definitely a mental disorder, but it's like hoaxsters that get off on faking stuff and seeing how many people they can entrap and make believe and actually pay them money for lies and disinfo.

I mean, they must get off on it.

It is a disservice to the paranormal, or at least to the unexplained, whatever you want to call it, yeah.

You have real people doing real research out there on things that are unexplained, that are logical.

Try to get evidence.

I guess in a nutshell, do you think that blaming the vegetables is kind of part of the PR or is there like a deeper conspiracy there? Have you ever thought of that?

I definitely don't trust the FDA.

Whether they say they don't have enough people to do the job, as they're saying right now, is why there are so many different contaminations of food supplies.

I think that's always been the case with them since that agency started.

They're reactive.

They're not proactive.

They allow, of course, toxic ingredients in our food.

I never ate much there, but I always heard that.

Why is that uncomfortable?

Right, on a commercial l- I, 'cause I guess think we didn't, we didn't aspire to that, right? We came from, like, this, like, punk rock place.

And then to us, rap music was like punk rock plus, because it was, like, way more radical, way more inventive, way more completely new and original than, say, punk or hardcore punk or new wave was, even.

So yeah, I guess I'm not comfortable saying commercial, because [laughs] that wasn't our aspir- that wasn't, that wasn't what we aspired to then.

What we, we were inspired was we were literally in love with rap music and, and the fact that we actually got to make it.

And then not only got to make it, but got to make it around, like, in the company of, like, Run-DMC, who sort of acted like, um, our, our mentor or older brother figures, who were like...

So Run-DMC changed, for me, changed the history of hip hop again, because you had the records that we've just been talking about, and then Run-DMC came out with, like, Sucker MCs.

Is there anything in that?

just get spoon-fed by TV and programming of what's going on in the world, but never get to really witness what's truly happening.

And then when you do, like let's say I'll bring up TikTok again, before it got bought out by Zionists, where people were recording wars and also the good things happening around the world, that's now blocked.

You can't get really world news of what's really happening.

Surely nothing in Gaza, where you used to actually see Uh, you know, buildings blown up and missiles being hit.

Now you get nothing.

Now it's all censored.

Literally, if you just put a decimal point in between the two numbers, the two digits in American obesity rates, that's the percentage of Japanese obesity.

Yeah, when it comes to years, like, I'm pretty good at, like, the decades I can get.

I try to get really good on, like, what years.

We're, we are in the process of moving, and I've had this box probably over 10, maybe 15 years.

Whenever I first moved, I guess since I started w- even when I left my hometown and moved to Austin, I've just had this box of stuff [laughs] that was, like, when I was in a band, we would keep all of our merch in it, and I guess it was the only good box I had, so I've been filling it with things for over a decade of my life.

And then since I moved into my current house, I have no idea what was in there 'cause it's been so long.

Yeah, so that's my favorite item in my collection.

Number two, I have a signed letter from Donald Glover, AKA Childish Gambino, where he came on the show back when we were in Austin on the Pop Station.

And I would have to go back and watch, honestly, to know, to differentiate between the two, 'cause I've even re-watched it and watched them kinda all together, so I don't, I don't know that I could differentiate between Season One and Season Two.

It's because I thought the action was so good in Season One, and then by the last season, I felt like it was a little bit disconnected with the overarching story, where it almost just felt like every episode was, like, its own adventure.

It got a little bit more family-friendly.

The action wasn't as intense, and there wasn't as much on the line in that last season to where I feel like they kinda sanitized the show just a little bit.

And then I'm worried with the movie that they're not just making essentially the next season of The Mandalorian, but putting it in movie form.

So luckily, I roll up right when they open, and there was, even though I got in the [laughs] wrong line, there was only, like, five people, maybe six ahead of me, and I looked at the, they basically had all the cards on, like, this big shelf behind them, and I was like, "They only limit it to two.

I think I should [laughs] be good." So I was waiting in line, and then everybody just kinda starts looking at you [laughs] because everybody's coming in to do their normal shopping.

There's a trio on this team, Blackwell, Boyd, and Winter, that's probably, arguably, I think you could pair them against any three in the country, and they would hold their own or maybe be the best trio in the country, or close to.

So when Winter goes down with that ankle injury, does he need to go get that basketball? Well, you want him to do the hustle plays.

Like you just, we just ended the last segment on defense that that's all hustle and effort.

If he is out, is there any way this team can rally, can shoot enough threes, the power of Boyd and Blackwell and Carrington can push them into the Sweet 16, into the round of 32? Obviously, draws matter, seeding matters, but any optimism at all from you?

So for those who don't know, I was a lead singer in a punk band, and that was the whole reason I moved to Austin, Texas where I ended up meeting Bobby because we wanted to do music.

Austin obviously has a great live music scene, so for the first- Three years that I was living there, I was playing in shows all the time, playing in a band.

And we got a show for somehow they [laughs] let us open for Banner Pilot who was, to us, like really awesome because they were on this big indie punk label that was like the mecca for any punk band.

And we got to open for them, and we had an actual physical ticket, which you don't really get anymore.

But back then, if you had like an actual physical ticket, that meant you were playing a legit show.

Mm.

So I don't look at ratings until I've already recorded my review.

Okay, and invest more into yourself meaning?

Meaning doing things that I normally wouldn't do because I think I don't have time to do them, whether it's like, okay, here's an opportunity where I can maybe host something, but I have to like take time out of doing something else and just find times r- for it.

'Cause that's really hard for me to do.

Like, even planning a month ahead I'm like, "What is work [laughs] gonna look like in that timeframe? Can I commit to this?" So it's doing things like that of like, okay, I wanna invest in myself and knowing that that could lead me to something else I wanna do in my future.

I gotta make time for that and invest in myself.

Mm-hmm.

So I feel like that was the hardest part for me to find time to invest in, because when I started looking at like all these hours I have in a week, it is so hard for me to assign, like this is a time where I'm gonna focus on this.

That's not necessarily a task I need to complete.

I think probably the first thing I learned from him is, like, just show up.

[laughs] 'Cause I think that was the key to me even being here.

Whenever I started, I messaged him on MySpace saying, "I want some advice on starting a podcast." This was back in 2010 when podcasts really [laughs] weren't a thing yet.

He invited me up to the radio show back when they were still in Austin, and I saw all the interns there that they had, and I was like, "I wanna do that." And whenever I started, I realized there was maybe five people who were better than me in every aspect.

And I was like, how can I get this job that I want, that's been my dream, and make it a reality when all these people are better than me? And I realized it didn't really have to do with talent, it was more about showing up.

Was she like, "I'm gonna kill you"? [laughs]

Hm.

Because I feel like he is the most comfortable now seeing him bring out, like, Dirks and Brooks & Dunn.

I feel like this is almost what he wanted to do the entire time.

Because country is something that's been, like, a part of him forever.

Like, he kn- he's known these songs since he was back doing his first album.

And seeing him on stage performing '90s country covers and bringing out these artists, I feel like he is the most comfortable now.

And as a longtime fan, I like it, but I want him to do one other country album and then kinda move on.

How long does it take you to come up with games and trivia each week? This is from Jenny in Indiana, speaking of games.

I'd say Easy Trivia is probably...

The thing is now, like, I have, like, a steady, just giant file with a bunch of Easy Trivia [laughs] questions that we don't get to, so I'm constantly adding to it.

But I try to come up with anywhere between 8 to 10 new categories a week.

That probably takes me a good 30-ish minutes.

If I'm really creative that week, probably 45, 'cause lately I've been trying to go, like, really dial into some, like, specific genre or categories.
