... from the printer, and you can see that the back is fully filled in and solid.

Mickey BrownGUEST
You know, this, this has to be cored out completely, but the reason that it's so filled in is because during the, the sintering process, it generates a ton of heat, and if the, the cross-section of the watch is not uniform all the way down, then the heat's gonna choke, and that's how you can crack at one of the, at one of the layers.

Mickey BrownGUEST
And so, um, the other things to notice is that as part of the printed case structure, we also have the indices and dial.

Mickey BrownGUEST
And that, you know, for us is what enables us to build features, not just the lattice, but other features that, again, if you're not using this process, are simply impossible.

So when you move to metal, how does that change? Like, do you see different failure rates? Do you see different-- is that balance change when you move and change, like, your printing product?

Justin DorfmanHOST
So tell us a little bit about your background in engineering and sort of how those two parts of your life, your professional and your personal came together to start Paravis.

Mickey BrownGUEST
And so, you know, a very traditional engineering path, but has nothing to do with watchmaking whatsoever.

Mickey BrownGUEST
We were doing CNC machining analysis and investigations to try to understand how we could improve the accuracy and performance of CNC machines, which, you know, in a in a layman term is simply just machines that cut material out of stock, as opposed to what we're doing in Paribus, which is additive, where you build material up.

Mickey BrownGUEST
And so and so he assigned everybody all his graduate research associates, he assigned everybody to build something that showcased what these machines were truly capable of.

I'm curious why it was so important for you right off the bat to have that customized movement and to have that precision program in place.
